⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Pros: loved everything about this book, beautiful cover, creepy and cute
Cons: wanted more
The love story for people who don't enjoy love stories; I finally read this one and it did not disappoint!
The story starts out in 18th century Scotland where a tenacious, bold, upper class girl named Hazel is determined to be a doctor. While attempting to find a way into an operating theater to view a live surgery, she runs into Jack, a kind hearted, slightly mischievous "resurrection man" who shows her a way to sneak into the gallery. Over time, they grow closer through various dark means: body snatching, nights in the graveyard, at home surgeries, etc.
That is all you get because I want you to read this book. It was incredible. The only downside was that I wanted more. More love, more character development (specifically for Jack) I just wanted more, more, more! This pleasantly surprised me because I am not usually one who enjoys romance; I am a rather cynical earth sign so most of the time, I am rolling my eyes at the overly cutesy exchanges but this... this flawlessly blended a strong female lead, her endearing love interest and the macabre.
Creepy and cute in the best way.

This was the book we selected as the alternate read for our book club in the month of April. Everyone who read it agreed that it was nearly perfect and the only downfall was that we just wanted more.
I was very thrilled when I checked Dana Schwartz's Instagram to see that we will be getting more in 2023!
