I received this book as a gift from my buddy Jenn and right when I saw the cover, I was beyond excited. I mean... so. many. teeth.
This review is going to be entirely unhelpful, I want you to know that up top. I feel like I read this book and it went completely over, under, beyond me. I am unsure if I am just too dumb to get it or if maybe I wasn't paying attention?
This book follows a young boy as he contemplates life and draws in his journals. A monster appears in his basement one day and I swear to god, that is as far as my understanding of this book went. Again, I don't know what happened. Here's what I do know: I liked it, I plan to read it again - several times if possible- because I liked it enough to want to understand it. The monster was terrifying, the gore was great, we get some queerness too. I like it, I just don't understand it.
Stay tuned for more information when I read it over and over until it makes sense!
Also, please enjoy my GoodReads review and follow me there if you'd like! This review is a great summary of all the things I plan to discuss at length below.
